The United States Embassy in India has begun a 12-day program in order to encourage all Indian nationals to apply for an H-1B and L-1 visa.
Through this program, citizens of India will be informed regarding the US visa rules, thus encouraging them to apply for a visa, VisaGuide.World reports.
According to the announcement of the US Embassy, the first day of the campaign was dedicated to H-1B and L-1 visas, and it will continue until Christmas.
While informing the citizens of this visa, the Embassy confirmed that there was marked a total of 17 per cent increase in the H&L visas, also known as Temporary Worker in Speciality Occupation visas, while adding that the waiting times for these visas have also been reduced.
In addition, the Embassy stressed that tens of thousands of workers as well as families have been eligible to reunite and start working in the United States.
The US L-1 visa permits intracompany transfers who are engaged in different fields such as managerial or executive positions, in companies that are located outside America. In addition, this kind of visa is dedicated to intracompany transferees who are engaged in jobs that required specialized knowledge.
At the same time, the H-1B visa is among the most famous visa for Indian nationals. The H-1B visa permits internationals in occupations such as architecture, technology, law, etc., to temporarily live and work in the United States provided they meet specific conditions. Each year, authorities in the United States issue a total of 65,000 H-1B visas as well as another 20,000 visas in order to reach the so-called Congresionally-mandated cap.
The main beneficiaries of these visas are Indian nationals. The figures provided last year by the Economic Times revealed that in the quarter to June as well as in the first three quarters of last year, the approval rate for this kind of visa by authorities in the US was 98.1 per cent as well as 97 per cent more specifically. This means that last year, the approval rates increased notably compared to pre-pandemic figures.
In addition, earlier this year it was reported that H-1B visa holders are among the highest-paid in the US, according to the research conducted by Cato Institute think tank. The same revealed that the H-1B visa holders’ salaries are in the 90th percentile of all other salaries in the US, thus accounting for the top ten highest salaries in the US.
