UAE Increases Visa Cost for Transit Travellers 

The United Arab Emirates Immigration authorities have increased the transit visa fee from $40.55 to $59.57, in addition to increasing the express 96-hour transit visa to $83.65.

According to Arabian Business, VFS Global, a service provider company, has notified applicants of the new changes in a statement issued recently, VisaGuide.World reports.

“Kindly note with immediate effective 96 hrs visa fees has been changed/increased by UAE immigration,” VFS wrote in a statement.

Residents of certain countries will have to pay a refundable security deposit, which will later be refunded back to the applicant – approximately $272.5 + taxes will be refunded to the client, and their exit will be recorded in the system.

Visa fees without deposits cost $33 for a 96-hour transit visa, with a $22.52 service fee. In addition, incidental charges can be $4.05. On the other hand, an express 96-hour visa has a service fee costs $42.92 and incidental charges of around $7.73.

Furthermore, visa fees with a deposit can cost $394.03 for a 96-hour transit visa, with a security deposit of €272.50 and incidental charges of $55.07. The express 96-hour visa costs $418.22, while the security deposit totals $272.50, similar to the other one. On the other hand, incidental charges for express visas are $58.76.

The visa category is chosen by the system automatically, and the visa fee is calculated by the system automatically based on the visa category and the applicant’s country of residence.

All people that aren’t exempt from UAE Tourist Visas or aren’t eligible for a UAE Visa on Arrival and those that have a flight in the upcoming 48 to 96 hours. Nationals of Somalia, Iraq, Niger, Afghanistan and Yemen cannot apply for a Transit Visa for UAE.

Nationals of Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, do not need a UAE Transit Visa to enter Dubai and other Emirates, while nationals of Mexico can enter the Emirates without a visa for up to 180 days.

Moreover, citizens from several countries, such as the EU Member States, Honduras, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, Norway, Russia, Switzerland and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Also, those that can enter the UAE without a visa for up to 90 days include nationals of Argentina, Barbados, Brazil, Chile, Nauru, Paraguay, Serbia, Solomon Island, Seychelles and Uruguay.

Furthermore, nationals of China, Japan, Macau and Ukraine can enter the Emirates without a visa for up to 30 days, while the UAE offers entry with a visa-on-arrival to 22 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.

According to Passport Index by VisaWorld.Guide, the UAE passport ranks 26th at the global level, scoring a total of 86.92 points out of 100, enabling visa-free travel to its citizens to 130 countries, entering five countries by providing an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) and passport-free travel with five other countries.
