The United Arab Emirates authorities have announced that the country has decided to update and improve some of its services offered to visitors, residents, and citizens through the smart services system.
According to Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security UAE, one of the most important updates is the introduction of the possibility of extending the 90-day visitor visa of relatives and friends of UAE residents.
In line with the newly made updates, people who hold a UAE 90-day visitor visa will now be able to extend its validity for a period of 30 days through the country’s smart service system, VisaGuide.World reports.
Moreover, the validity of the pre-entry visas can also now get extended and services for printing visa details are provided through the smart service.
Khaleej Times explains that apart from introducing a one-time visa extension service, the UAE authorities have also made another 14 updates to its services.
The other updates include changes to the rules that apply when renewing residence visas. Now that new updates have been made to the system, foreigners who hold a residence visa which is valid for more than another six months will not be able to apply for the document’s renewal.
The same source notes that through the smart services system, UAE authorities will now also issue visas for up to 180 days for family groups visiting the country for tourism or medical purposes.
In addition to the above-mentioned, it has been stressed that among many other updates, Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security UAE has also introduced new services for canceling and changing visa information for citizens of Gulf countries who are registered into the system without an Emirates ID.
The UAE government allow citizens of several countries to enter its territory without a visa for short stays.
Those who need a visa and plan to reach UAE for tourism purposes need to apply for a UAE tourist visa. When applying for a UAE visa, applicants must submit several documents.
Foreigners who must obtain a visa to enter UAE need to submit photocopies of their passports, which must be valid for another six months from the time of travel.
Applicants must also submit passport-size pictures, a confirmed roundtrip flight ticket, proof of accommodation, proof of having purchased travel medical insurance for UAE, and a letter stating the purposes and duration of the visit.
Additionally, foreigners applying for UAE visa must also submit proof of previous travels and they may be required to attach additional documents such as proof of financial status, proof of current address, and a marriage certificate.
