The Thai authorities have announced that the country has officially gone back to its original 30-day period for visa waiver arrivals.
The government extended its original period to a 45-day visa exemption for nationals of several countries back on October 1, 2022, in an attempt to help the country’s economy revive.
However, after evaluating the measure and concluding that such a prolonged visa exemption did not have a significant impact on the economy, the government has decided to revert back to its 30-day visa-free entry for most nationalities, VisaGuide.World reports.
Loyalty Lobby explains that now that the 45-day visa exemption is no longer in place, all those who are eligible to enter Thailand without obtaining a visa for a period of up to 30 days will continue to be able to extend their entry stamp for an additional 30 days.
The extension of the 30-day entry stamp can be made at local immigration offices, permitting foreigners to remain in the country for up to 60 days without having to undergo visa procedures.
Those who can enter Thailand for a period of up to 30 days without a visa can also apply for a 60-day e-visa prior to their arrival instead of going to a local immigration office to extend their stay.
On the other hand, the case is not the same for those who cannot enter Thailand without obtaining a visa beforehand.

All nationals of countries that are not exempt from the visa requirements as well as those who are not eligible for a Thai visa on arrival, must apply for a Thailand Tourist Visa when planning to reach the country for tourism purposes.
Thailand has three types of tourist visas – single-entry visa (valid for three months), multiple entry visa (valid for six months), and Visa On Arrival (only issued to citizens of certain countries for a non-extendable 15-day period).
All those who need a Thailand tourist visa to enter the country must make an appointment and submit all the required documents.
Thailand tourist visa applicants need to submit their valid passport, a completed and signed Thailand Visa Application Form, two recent passport-size pictures, a confirmed return travel ticket, proof of sufficient financial means, proof of having secured accommodation in Thailand, and proof of payment of the visa fee, among others.
The application processing time for a Thai tourist visa depends on the Embassy or Consulate, but in general, it takes between five to ten working days to receive a response.
