Citizens from China and India planning to travel to Thailand, in addition to a negative result of the COVID-19 PCR test, will also be required to have health insurance coverage of US$10,000.
Such a decision has been confirmed through a statement provided by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), VisaGuide.World reports.
In this regard, Thailand’s Transport Minister, Saksayam Chidchob, said that the decision of CAAT requires travelers who are required to obtain a COVID-19 negative test result before leaving Thailand to prove health insurance coverage of at least US$10,000 if the test leads to Coronavirus treatment.
It has been reported that students, aircrew, and other travelers from China and India are eligible to use letters of guarantee from their organizations, also specifying health insurance coverage in order to enter Thailand.
Authorities in Thailand also confirmed that all those who hold passports from Thailand and United Nations as well as those with diplomatic passports and those in transit, will not be required to hold health insurance requirement.
It has been reported that all those who require air passengers aged 18 and over will be required to present proof of at least two doses of COVID vaccine or of complete recovery from the Coronavirus in the past 180 days.
It has also been clarified that all passengers who do not meet the vaccination requirements will be obliged t hold a relevant medical certificate explaining the reason.
All those who fail to present the needed documents will be required to undergo a testing process upon their arrival. In addition, passengers who develop Coronaviurs symptoms during their flight will also be required to undergo a testing process upon their arrival.
According to the figures provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), authorities in Thailand have registered a total of 4,725,885 cases of COVID-19 infection since the beginning of the pandemic while a total of 33,792 people have died during the same period.
The figures provided by WHO also reveal that since November 11 a total of 137,976,764 vaccine doses have been administered in this country.
Due to the recent increase in the number of COVID-19 infections, authorities in Thailand last week announced that they would tighten the entry rules for arrivals from other countries in order to prevent a surge in the number of infections.
However, soon after, the government confirmed that it would not impose additional COVID-19 preventive measures for arrivals from other countries. Such a decision was confirmed by Anutin Charnvirakul, Thailand’s Health Minister.
