Sudan and Egypt have agreed to facilitate the granting of visas, work and residence permits for citizens of one another.
Such a decision was taken during a meeting of the Permanent Consular Committee held between the two countries in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, VisaGuide.World reports.
Following talks between Sudan and Egypt, the authorities of the two countries said that it is important to put an end to some difficulties that citizens of Sudan and Egypt face when entering each other’s territory for work or study purposes, among others.
According to the Sudanese and Egyptian authorities, the citizens of the two countries will no longer be subject to strict rules when applying for a visa. Nonetheless, the authorities did not reveal what rules would be facilitated. They only announced that the granting of visas would not be as strict as before.
Additionally, the Sudanese and Egyptian authorities indicated that those who wish to enter each other’s territory for work purposes would have it easier when it comes to obtaining a work permit.
The rules for obtaining a residence permit will now be eased too, and it is believed that this decision will benefit students of the two countries the most as they will no longer have to follow extended rules to obtain such a document when pursuing their studies in Sudan or Egypt.
While Sudan and Egypt have reached an agreement to facilitate granting of visas, work and residence permits for citizens of one another, those from other countries will still have to meet the same rules as before when planning to reach Sudan and Egypt for all kinds of purposes.
All persons who wish to apply for a Sudan visa must make sure to submit several documents. Sudan requires all visa applicants to submit a completed visa application form, a valid passport, a passport-sized picture, a fee payment receipt, and a bank statement document.
Moreover, applicants are also required to submit proof of having purchased health insurance, proof of accommodation, and a letter of invitation from a relative or friend.

Egypt has more or less the same visa rules too. Those who need a visa to enter Egypt must submit two copies of the Egypt visa application form, two passport-size pictures, a passport, two photocopies of the personal information page of the passport, proof of a return or onward travel ticket, proof of having secured accommodation in Egypt, and proof of having paid the visa fee.
Depending on the reason for travel to Egypt, additional documents may be required too.
