“Similar agreements are currently under work with Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Zambia. Moreover, we are currently in discussions with Hong Kong to extend the visa-free regime term of stay from 14 to 30 days,” Ivanov noted.

He also pointed out that currently, citizens of more than 60 countries can visit Russian territory under identity cards, without having to apply for a visa.

On the other hand, Russian citizens are not able to visit some countries – Czechia, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland, as the passport index from VisaGuide.World reveals. These countries will not permit passport holders from Russia, as the travel ban is still in place.

The same checker shows that there are some countries in which Russia has a visa-on-arrival agreement. More specifically, Russian citizens can apply for a visa once they reach the countries of Angola, Australia, Benin, Djibouti, India, Kenya, Kuwait, Lesotho, and Singapore. Visa on arrival is a less complicated process, and the issuance of the visa can be a quick procedure.

On the contrary, Russian citizens are able to visit several countries, provided they apply for a visa online before traveling there. Russia has an e-visa agreement with Bahrain, Burundi, Cambodia, Cabo Verde, Comoros, and Egypt.

The total number of countries that have a visa-on-arrival agreement with Russia is 32 and another ten e-visa Countries. In addition, six countries have a ban on Russian citizens.

In general, Russian citizens were banned by several countries in Europe while some countries do accept visitors but not for tourism purposes. Recently, Lithuania has extended the state of emergency with Russia and Belarus, which will be valid for at least until March 2023.
