Being on a summer vacation is simple. But choosing a destination – that’s tricky.
There has never been more excitement to travel and experience the world, both close to and far from home.
After the Covid- stricken summers, this one appears to be one to remember for all globetrotters.
Perhaps you want to take a well-deserved summer vacation, but you’re not sure where to go? Whether you prefer short trips or you are ready to cross an ocean or two. We got your back!
Here, we’ve rounded up some of the best summer holiday destinations to top up your tan.
Let’s dive right in!
Italy
When it comes to sunshine and top summer destinations, there is no place that can come close to the charm of striking Italy.
Have you been to its most piercing regions Positano or Amalfi, and fallen in love with its beautiful shores and secluded coves?
Let’s not forget the great history, the supercars, movie stars, and the bags with money.
Italy has 4,723 kilometres of shoreline sprinkled with some of the world’s most exquisite beaches and seaside villages.
It’s hard to pick precisely which coasts are the most gorgeous from the dreamy Mediterranean coastline where you can also experience the “Dolce far niente”. In other words – the sweetness of doing nothing.
You also have the art of Bologne, the romance of Venice, the history of Rome, the wines in Lombardy, the sexy all-night parties on the beach, and lashings of good food.
From Sardinia to Sicily and everywhere else in between, wherever you choose to go during your summer holiday vacation, you won’t regret it.
The best time to visit Italy is in late May or early October if you want to escape crowds and enjoy sunny, warm days.
It’s always a good idea to book early if you want to avoid splashing the cash.
Turkey
As soon as the summer arrives, the insatiable desire to explore countries like Turkey comes because it’s full of summer vacation spots.
Turkey has 5,000 miles of coastline in the north, west, and a portion of the south, leaving only a small portion of it landlocked.
This destination is for individuals who enjoy rich history, beautiful beaches, delicious kebabs, and exceptional shopping. The country is renowned for its ancient ruins, magnificent monuments, and traditional cuisine.
If you are looking for places to travel in the summer, think about the Turkish Riviera. You will be surrounded by luxury, and you can either enjoy water activities and the magnificent beaches, or you can relax in a traditional Turkish bath and enjoy a spa treatment.
The majority of Turkey’s top beach destinations are located between Antalya and Alanya, with a couple close to Bodrum and Oludeniz.
There are so many hotels in these locations, that picking one could be challenging.
The best time to visit the Turkish seaside holiday resorts is between May to October when the tourism season begins, and the airline companies resume their summer schedule.
If this is your destination of choice, make sure to check if you need to apply for a Turkish tourist visa before you book your flights.

Greece
Greece is a pure summer paradise and one of the best summer holiday destinations in the world – whether you are a travel enthusiast, culture vulture, or a beach bum.
From jaw-dropping scenery, and crystal-clear, azure-hued waters to mysterious ancient sites, it’s no surprise that so many flock to Greece.
The sea towns are perched on top of lofty cliffs, characterized by their blue church doms, whitewashed houses, and candy-coloured flashes of brightness. Pure romance.
Whether you will choose to go to the postcard-worthy sea towns or boat-trip to secluded beaches, you will find out that Greece is ideal for pretty much everyone.
Mykonos or Santorini, Rhodes, Crete, or Corfu – there is no Greek island that will disappoint you.
To truly gauge what Greece is all about, you need to check the well-organized sunbeds, beach bars, and the fantastic diversity of the Pacific Rim food.
Thailand
If you are looking for top holiday destinations, don’t forget timeless Thailand.
There is a good reason why the country is a cracking summer destination!
With its breathtaking tropical scenery, historic temples, incredible food scene, vodka-clear water, and exciting nightlife, Thailand has a truly frenetic charm that draws tourists from all over the world. The nation, also known as the Land of Smiles, never lets you down.
Thailand is an excellent place to explore a diverse culture and warm sunshine. It boasts world-class beach resorts like Krabi, Phuket, Phi Phi Island, Koh Pha Ngan, and Samui. You will find there some of the finest beaches on earth!
There are several benefits to visiting Thailand during the summer, including fewer tourists and affordable hotel and flight rates.
Travelers may effortlessly reserve their flights and accommodations without any fuss or advanced planning. Additionally, you can appreciate the surroundings much more when it’s less busy – from June through August or perhaps September.
Cambodia
If you want to go to Cambodia during the summer, and someone is telling you this is not a good idea, cut off the noise.
Cambodia is less popular during summer, and you can expect a very little crowd because the peak tourist season in Cambodia is from November to February. This affects the price of the hotels in your favor.
The water is not as chilly compared to wintertime and the breeze is refreshing.
You can enjoy the pristine beaches, and temples from the Khmer era that are part of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites and Cambodia’s other tourist attractions.
Should you visit the nightclubs after a hot summer day, your experience will be enhanced because the other months are either too rainy or too cold.
The weather in the summer is rarely unbearably hot because Cambodia gets cooling heavy rain showers that don’t last long.
Cambodia is in full bloom during the rainy summer season, and it’s an excellent opportunity to see the region as a lush green paradise. The daytime temperatures average between 25°C and 27°C.
Egypt
It’s hard to point out one location as the best tourist destination in the world.
Home of the ancient Pharaohs, Egypt is a country full of tombs and dazzling temples that wow all tourists.
Nobody wants to spend their vacation fending off hundreds of tourists. You won’t experience the typical crowds if you travel to Egypt during the hottest months of the year.
Fewer tourists mean less time waiting in line and more time to visit tourist attractions.
However, we suggest planning your outdoor sightseeing trips to the Pyramids, Karnak, Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens, Luxor Temple, and Egypt’s magnificent antiquities for the morning hours when it’s coolest. Schedule your air-conditioned activities, like visiting museums, for the hot afternoons.
The summer in Egypt is between May and August. You can expect sweltering temperatures around 36 C (around 100 degrees Fahrenheit), so make sure you bring your sunglasses, sunscreen, and water bottle with you.
If you feel the summer is scorching, you can also visit in September, October, and November. The temperatures cool down a bit and you can expect in October around 29.2°C (84.6°F).
During the summer, the beaches in Egypt won’t always be less busy, but you’ll get up to 14 hours of sunshine every day, which is great for water sports like swimming, wading, and sunbathing.
The hottest period will probably be from midday until around 5 o’clock. If you don’t want to stay outside when it’s too hot, we would recommend choosing
a hotel with a pool, then spend your afternoons cooling off by swimming and tanning.
Traveling to Egypt during the summertime may significantly reduce the cost of your trip. Additionally, you can upgrade your hotel room to a luxurious suite for almost the same price.
Here are a few more reasons why Egypt should be your next travel destination.
Canada
Many tourists visit Canada in the winter to enjoy the ski resorts, but during summertime, Canada gets even more exciting!
If you are looking for places to travel in summer, don’t forget that Canada’s national parks and cities are teeming with tourists from all around the world.
The country has an endless list of extraordinary attractions, including the golden fields, vibrant seaside towns, mountain lakes, not to mention Niagara Falls, and the Butchart Gardens.
From Halifax to Vancouver, July to August is Canada’s peak tourist period, particularly from mid-July to mid-August.
The months of September and October are known as the “Indian summer,” when nature is full of splendor and the trees dress with their spectacular hues of gold and red.
Prices are typically lower and there are fewer tourists during this period. In a nutshell, this is the perfect moment to travel to Canada!
Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka has a coastline that is lined with palm trees as far as your eyes can see.
If a country could be summed up by golden beaches, crashing waves, misty mountains, big elephants, cunning leopards, enormous whales, a glorious past, lovely tea, and…phew, what else? Friendly smiles? This would be Sri Lanka.
Due to the presence of so many cultures, Sri Lanka hosts a variety of festivals throughout the year, making it the perfect destination for fun, holiday, and relaxation.
The months of April, August, and September usually offer favorable travel conditions to travel to Sri Lanka.
The finest weather on the east coast is from April/May to September, while the ideal time to explore the west and south coasts, as well as the hill area, is from December to March.
Bulgaria
When we talk about top summer holiday destinations in Europe, Bulgaria sleeps in the shadow of the limelight. However, we believe that this country is small but mighty.
The heart of the Balkans offers less luxury than the rest of the European countries, but this is more than compensated by the opportunity to see a culture that hasn’t been overly marketed to tourists.
Rightly and wrongly, Bulgaria has a reputation for Scandinavians and booze, but we believe this is the perfect destination for adventurers. The country is a treasure trove that’s waiting to be discovered.
You can check out Nessebar or Sozopol for beach and history, the Rhodope mountains for the bagpipe festival, the hidden small authentic villages like Leshten and Kovachevitsa, or the Kapana art district in Plovdiv.
If you are into spirituality, you can go to the Seven Rila Lakes which are considered to be one of the spiritual centers of our planet. This place also offers one of the most breathtaking views we’ve seen (after Switzerland).
Do you like golf? Then, you should definitely check out Thracian Cliffs, the Blacksearama Golf, and the villas district.
If you are ever short on fun, you can also go to the touristy destinations – Golden Sands or Sunny Beach resorts, because Bulgaria has a party culture that can leave you jealous. We would definitely recommend as well the endless house party nights at Hacienda beach in the small sea village Lozenets.
The best time to visit Bulgaria is probably June or at the beginning of September because July and August can be sometimes too hot for us.
USA
The USA is an absolutely beautiful, fun, and exciting place to visit with a number of fantastic spots to consider for a summer holiday.
The sun worshippers can enjoy long days at the beach, boat cruises on lakes, and road trips to national parks which are all common summertime activities there.
The thrill of visiting the United States is that you do not have to go far to find the ocean, solitude, wilderness, city life, or desert, and sometimes even all of this in one vacation.

The busiest travel season in the USA is the summer when the good weather draws crowds of visitors from everywhere. Summer is also the most exciting time to tour the country, thanks to the endless outdoor events, music festivals, and food fairs.
We would recommend going to the USA in late September or October because the temperatures are milder and there are less tourists in the most popular destinations.
Our personal favorite top summer spots in the USA are Kaihalulu Beach, Hawaii, and the golden child of the Hawaiian archipelago – the island Maui.
Portugal
Why is Portugal a top summer destination? Well, isn’t this one of Europe’s coolest countries?
Vibrant, and energetic with extraordinary hospitality and a centuries-old, rich past. The beautiful weather ensures that your visit will be adventurous and active.
To truly gauge what Portugal is all about you need to see the spectacular coastline, the yellow trams of Lisabon or the genuine old-world charm of Porto, the olive orchards, the simplicity, and the wine.
Portugal contains a mix of terrains that offer panoramic vistas and myriad summer activities and excursions.
This enthralling corner of Europe will capture you with its wide coastline, and the beach resorts which are ideal for long relaxing days by the sea. If you spend your summer in Portugal, you’ll quickly fall in love also with the reasonable prices.
Faro is the well-known capital of the Algarve, Portugal’s popular southern vacation destination. We would also recommend visiting Madeira because this absolutely stunning island is often compared to Hawaii for good reasons.
In the summer, many visitors come to Portugal in search of adventure, whether it’s surfing or exploring hilltop castles. Whatever you do, a summer holiday in Portugal will be unforgettable.
Spain
If you are looking for summer dream destinations to add to your bucket list, Spain probably has to feature on the top of the list.
Whether it’s Mallorca, Ibiza, Costa Brava, Malaga, or Marbella, you name it.
As we mentioned Mallorca – you should check out Port de Sóller or Puerto Portals.
If you want to escape mainstream tourism, we would recommend heading to the artistic Deià, Banyalbufar, or visiting the home of Chopin in Valdemossa.
Spain’s sophisticated hedonism has captivated just about everyone. Whether you are looking for simplicity or hotels with premium amenities, Spain has hidden gems and is a paradise for all things, sea, and sand.
Oman
If you are thinking about the best places to go on a holiday, Oman doesn’t frequently come to mind, and that’s because the country has undiscovered gems that most people don’t know about.
Oman is a beach lover’s paradise, perched on the tip of the Arabian peninsula where the infinite desert meets the crystal-clear ocean.
The truth is that the county has a ton of exciting things to do and beaches where you can cool off in the scorching summertime.
Whatever time of year you choose to travel, the “Pearl of Arabia” has plenty of attractions to see and things to do, from ancient forts and castles to Unesco World Heritage Sites like Al Baleed Archaeological Park.
We would recommend going to Oman from September through March when the weather is ideal for beach activities or hiking.
You must travel to Oman at least once in your life to experience its wonderful people, stunning natural landscape, and peacefulness.
Laos
You may visit Laos at any time of year, and you’ll notice that each season gives the country a different look.
Although Laos’s early summer might be humid, it is also lush and green, and there are significantly fewer tourists.
Before embarking on a private boat journey along the Mekong River to beat the heat, we advise spending a few days in the lovely town of Luang Prabang, where you may unwind by the idyllic swimming pool at Amantaka. The Pha Tad Ke Botanical Gardens are equally lovely at this time of year.
Since attractions are open all year long, there isn’t really a bad time to visit. The two primary weather trends in Laos are hot and wet (May to October) and colder and dry (November to April).
Laos is home to some of the most stunning waterfalls you will ever likely see! This amazing country is made up of cascading layers of falls, stunning turquoise water, and a lush surrounding forest. Here are more ideas of things you can do while on vacation in Laos.
Vietnam
If you are looking for places to travel in the summer, don’t forget the must-see destination in Southeast Asia – Vietnam.
The beaches are pristine, the landscapes are extraordinary, and the culture is influenced by the East and West.
Because of the beautiful weather in Vietnam in the summer, this destination is a perfect summer getaway, although if you go there in September or October, you won’t mistake.
You have the UNESCO-listed world heritage site of Halong Bay, the crescent-shaped coasts, and the turquoise water of Nha Trang.
If you want to see primitive beaches with forests and corals, you should check out the island of Con Dao.
Phu Quoc is the largest island in Vietnam, and you can go there by plane or ship. Don’t miss out the Fish sauce factory and the scuba diving and snorkeling. If you want to see Japanese-design bridges, French colonial houses, and Chinese temples go to the coastal ancient town – Hoi An.
A biosphere and world heritage site, the Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park is home to various species of flora and fauna.
