Nationals of another 34 countries will be able to travel to Mongolia visa-free from April 1, 2024, until December 2025, the authorities have announced.
In addition, Mongolia offers permanent visa-free travel for nationals of 27 countries, which include several European and Asian neighbouring countries, VisaGuide.World reports.
More specifically, passport holders of countries like Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Greece and Denmark, will be able to travel to Mongolia for tourism purposes for up to 30 days. Similarly, nationals of Spain, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania and microstates like Liechtenstein and Monaco will be able to travel to Mongolia for stays of 30 days, without applying for a visa prior to their visit.
In general, all Member States of the European Union, in addition to the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, will be subject to such change.
On the other hand, countries that have permanent visa-free travel to Mongolia can differ based on the passport types covered by the agreement, duration of stay as well as the date of the decision becoming effective.
Nationals of the Republic of Korea, Peru, Educador, the Republic of Chile, the Argentine Republic, the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Republic of Serbia, Belarus, China, the United States of America, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Kazakhstan, are able to travel to Mongolia for a 90-day period stay, providing a national passport. In addition, passport holders of Ukraine can visit Mongolia for 90 days with a national official invitation.
Furthermore, Mongolia has a visa-free travel agreement for a 30-day period with nationals of Malaysia, the State of Israel, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, the Kingdom of Thailand, Japan, Germany, Turkey, Canada, Russia, Singapore, Uruguay as well as Uzbekistan.
Nationals of other countries are subjected to slightly more different duration of stay; Philippines passport holders can visit Mongolia for a 21-day period without applying for a visa and nationals of Hong Kong for 14 days.
On the other hand, the Visa Guide Passport Index shows that the Mongolian passport ranks 123rd in the world, scoring a total of 27.33 passport points. Nationals of Mongolia are able to travel to 29 countries without a visa, and to one country with an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA).
In addition, Mongolians can visit 31 countries that have a Visa-on-arrival agreement with the Asian country as well as 25 destinations presenting e-visa proof. Mongolians aren’t banned from entry by any country in the world but they are subject to visa requirements to 140 countries in the world.
Some Asian countries with the best passport scores in the region include Japan and Singapore, which are listed first and second strongest passports in the world, with visa-free travel agreements in 142 and 149 countries, respectively.
