Citizens, as well as residents from Saudi Arabia, are now eligible to apply in order to hold an electronic tourist visa to Japan.
The new changes have been confirmed by Japan’s embassy in Riyadh, VisaGuide.World reports.
The statement notes that all nationals who reside in Saudi Arabia are eligible to file an application for a Japanese tourist visa online, emphasizing the fact that the visa is valid for a period of three months from the issuance date.
The application for a Japan visa can be submitted through the JAPAN eVISA website in order to receive the electronic visa, “Visa Issuance Notice,” the mission stressed in a statement.
In addition, applicants are urged to log in to the Japan eVisa website and display “Visa Issuance Notice” at the departure airport, under the Internet environment, it notes.
It has been emphasized that if a visa fee is applicable, depending on nationality, applicants are required to visit the Japanese Embassy or Consulate General in order to pay the price in cash.
“If a visa fee is applicable (depending on nationality), applicants (or their representatives) need to visit the Japanese Embassy or Consulate General to pay the fee in cash. Online payment is not available at this time. Please be sure to submit the request at least seven days before the scheduled arrival date in Japan. The visas are valid for three months from the date of issue,” the statement published by the Embassy of Japan in Saudi Arabia reads.
In order to increase cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Japan, in December last year, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Investment, Khalid Al-Falih, announced that a total of 15 agreements to boost investments were reached by both countries’ authorities.
Al-Falih noted that deals in different fields are aimed at establishing a long-term bilateral partnership.
“The agreements enhance and boost mutual investments between the two territories and achieve the aspirations of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which is in line with the Japanese government’s strategic vision,” the Minister pointed out.
Back in 2015, Japan was named the third-largest trading partner of Saudi Arabia, while both territories share common interests, thus looking forward to tightening cooperation.
Authorities in Japan have also been highly affected by the spread of the coronavirus as well as restrictions imposed to halt its further spread. However, with the easing of restrictions, Japan is welcoming a large number of international visitors.
According to a report by Travel Weekly Asia, the recovery rate in Japan’s tourism sector early this year stood at nearly 76 percent, excluding mainland China while the number decreased to 56 percent including it.
