Residents from the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Araba planning to travel to Japan will be subject to an easier travel process after Japan has introduced eVisas for them and the citizens of several other countries.
While confirming the decision, the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has presented a new online tourist visa system from which can benefit the citizens of the UAE, Brazil, the United States, as well as Canada, the United Kingdom, and Cambodia, amongst others, VisaGuide.World reports.
JNTO’s Dubai office Executive Director Daisuke Kobayashi has considered that the new measures will further facilitate the process of visiting the Asian country for tourism.
“It is also especially timely as these measures have been activated in time for Eid travel, with travelers to Japan in the months of April and May able to enjoy and make the most of the spectacular spring climate and striking new green verdant landscapes,” he pointed out, according to Arab News report.
Kobayashi stressed that travel to Japan for the GCC area had marked a significant increase recently, accounting for one of the few international markets showing post-COVID-19 recovery levels, even surpassing pre-pandemic levels recorded in 2019.
“I am delighted with the commencement of the online applications for short-term stay visas in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, and the visa waiver arrangements for short—term stay for nationals of Qatar, as it will ease the process of visiting Japan for touristic purposes,” said Kobayashi added, according to the National News.
Regarding nationals from Qatar, a new “Visa Waiver Registration” Seal has been introduced. Nationals are now eligible to have their passports registered at the embassy.
Applicants are required to submit their requests more than seven days before their trip. They will need to apply through the official Japan eVisa website. After successful submission, they will receive a digital confirmation.
At the same time, at immigration, travelers will be required to simply log on to the website and show the visa upon their entry.
The new system permits residents from specific countries to file an application for an online tourist visa which will grant e-visas for a period of up to 90 days in Japan.
In addition, as part of efforts to further ease the travel process, the government of Japan previously announced that it would abolish the COVID-19-related entry requirements starting from May 8 after confirming that the current epidemiological situation does not pose a public health threat. The new changes mean that travelers will no longer be required to present valid proof of vaccination or a negative result of the COVID-19 test.
