The embassy of Iran in Kazakhstan has announced that starting from November 11, the latter’s citizens will be eligible to enter and stay in Iran without being required to apply for a visa for a period of up to 14 calendar days from the moment they cross the border.
The recent changes have been confirmed through a report provided by Tasnim, VisaGuide.World reports.
The Iranian Embassy in Kazakhstan stressed that after the agreement reached between Iran and Kazakhstan and taking into account full reciprocity, the Iranian government decided to abolish the visa regime for Kazakh passports.
Since July this year, citizens of India, as well as those from Iran and China, are eligible to enter and stay in Kazakhstan without a visa for a period of more than 14 days from the moment of border crossing.
Last month, the Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Sports unfolded a new proposal to introduce a visa-free regime for 26 countries in order to help the tourism sector recover, bringing the total number of visa-free countries to 100, Tourism Industry Committee Chair, Dastan Ryspekov at September 28 Central Communication Service (CCS) press briefing.
Ryspekov stressed that Kazakhstan had resumed a visa-free regime for a total of 74 countries this year, including China, India, and Iran, with international flights resuming to a total of 113 destinations in a total of 28 countries. In addition, it has also been revealed that the same Ministry plans to initiate additional flights to Mongolia, Russia, India, China and France, according to Astana Times.
The Tourism Industry Committee Chair, Dastan Ryspektov, stressed that the tourism sector started to recuperate following the abolishment of the restrictions imposed previously to halt the spread of the Coronavirus and protect citizens’ lives.
“For the second year in a row, the main indicators of domestic tourism have risen. We registered a record number of domestic tourists at the end of last year – 6.9 million – which is higher than during the pre-pandemic period,” he pointed out in this regard.
It has also been reported that the Ministry expects Kazakhstan will welcome a total of 2.5 million travelers by the end of the year.
As for Iran, according to the figures provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), a total of 7,556,097 people have tested positive for the Coronavirus in Iran up to this point, while a total of 144,544 people have died.
In order to contain the further spread of the Coronavirus, authorities in Iran imposed strict rules, which caused significant damage in many sectors, including the travel and tourism industry; however, with the lifting of restrictions, authorities in this country are welcoming a large number of visitors.
