Indonesia to Introduce Golden Visa Program for Wealthy Foreigners

Indonesia’s Department of Immigration will soon introduce the Golden Visa Program for all internationals interested in living in this country.

According to local media reports, the decision was announced by Indonesia’s Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, while further details related to the scheme are still being discussed, VisaGuide.World reports.

The Residency by Investment scheme gives wealthy citizens from other countries the opportunity to acquire residency in Indonesia, provided they make a specific amount of money investment in this territory and meet the needed conditions.

Minister Uno expressed his hopes that the new program will make a significant contribution to the country’s economic sector, among others.

He said that the scheme would help to bring to the territory a larger number of talents from countries worldwide, engaged in different fields such as health, digital, research as well as technology while emphasizing that it could also help to create jobs after internationals would invest in the country through the property and other means.

“We hope to increase not only investment but employment,” he said while stressing that the mission is to create a total of 4.4 million new jobs in tourism as well creative economies by next year.

Mentioning the details of Indonesia’s Golden Visa program, Minister Uno said that the new scheme would have five-year and ten-year validity.

In addition, he talked about other benefits which visa holders can have, taking into account faster citizenship and visa application processes as well as the right to legally own a property in the nation.

The launching of the Golden Visa Program by authorities in Indonesia was revealed in January this year by Minister Uno who considered it as a red carpet for internationals.

We will give special talent investors and industry players who want to invest for Indonesia’s economic development towards an advanced Indonesia,” Uno according to an Economic Times report.

However, it has been emphasized that the Residency by Investment scheme will differ from the Second Home visa after the latter is aimed to attract high earners who plan to live in this country for a period of more than ten years.

Authorities in Indonesia are continuously working in order to help the country’s economic growth after being highly affected by the spread of the Coronavirus and its new variants.

Previously, authorities in this country revealed that they plan to launch the Digital Nomad Visa for all those who love remote work.
