Citizens of Turkey will now be eligible to enter Egypt by holding a visa-on-arrival for the first time in a decade.
The decision, according to Anadolu Agency, was confirmed by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Turkish Embassy to Egypt, Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen, VisaGuide.World reports.
Last week, he stressed that the government of Egypt had announced visa facilities for Turkish citizens in order to reach Egypt.
Through a post on Twitter, Ambassador Şen said that Turkish citizens would be eligible to enter Egypt without being obliged to obtain a traditional visa in advance.
“For the first time in the last ten years. After Egypt facilitated the Turkish citizens’ obtaining a visa to enter Egypt, it is expected that a group of Turkish tourists will head to the Egyptian territories from Izmir on a charter plane on April 19,” the Ambassador said.
Whereas Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has said that both countries are interested in further developing bilateral relations. His comments came during a meeting held with the Egyptian Foreign Minister in Ankara.
Last month, the Turkish Foreign Minister thanked his counterpart from Egypt, Sameh Shoukry, for his visit to Turkey and hoped to further continue exchanging visits between both countries, according to the Egypt Independent report.
In a joint press conference together with Shoukry, Cavusoglu thanked Egypt for the assistance it provided to his country after the earthquake while describing relations between both countries as historic.
