The Chinese authorities have once again reminded all travellers reaching the country to remain informed as well as follow the entry rules.
Chinese embassies in different countries said through official statements on Sunday, January 15, that all persons travelling to China are required to present a negative PCR test result in order to be permitted boarding.
Moreover, the embassies noted that in order to ensure the safety of international safety, starting from tomorrow, January 17, the airlines will be responsible for checking whether the passengers hold a negative COVID test and allow boarding to only those who meet the rules, VisaGuide.World reports.
It has been explained that COVID tests are accepted as long as they have been taken within 48 hours before departure, and at the same time, it has been pointed out that random checks will also be carried out by customs.
Those who test negative again will be able to enter the country freely whereas those who test positive during the random checks will be required to undergo self-quarantine.
Apart from the test requirement, travellers entering China are also required to submit their online health declarations.
Commenting on the rules that China continues to keep in place, the director general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China said that the possibility of getting infected with the Omicron virus has started to increase as passengers stay for a long period of time in indoor places.
The same noted that in order to prevent a further increase in infection cases, the country decided to impose the mandatory testing requirement.
Apart from China which has imposed entry restrictions for foreign arrivals, other countries have also introduced entry rules for arrivals from China, after taking into account the high number of infection cases that the latter has been registering.
The United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, South Korea, Japan, India, Israel, Qatar, Morocco, Greece, Latvia, Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, France, and Italy, are just some of the countries that have introduced entry rules for those travelling from China.
All the countries mentioned above require travellers from China to present a negative COVID test result taken at least two days prior to their departure. In addition, travellers from China are also subject to random testing when reaching countries that have already imposed entry rules for arrivals from China.
The World Health Organization shows that China has reported a total of 223,107 new Coronavirus infection cases and 846 new deaths in the last seven days. Nonetheless, the World Health Organization has required that China provides updated information, suggesting that the number of infections may be higher.
