The Canadian authorities have announced that the country has decided to open a new visa application processing center in the capital of the Philippines, Manila.
According to the government of Canada, this initiative is part of the country’s efforts to accommodate a large number of visa applications and achieve planned increases in immigration levels in the upcoming years, VisaGuide.World reports.
The announcement on the opening of the new application processing center in Manila was made by Rechie Valdez, Member of Parliament for Mississauga—Streetsville, on behalf of the Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, Sean Fraser.
The latter said that the new center is located within the Embassy of Canada in Manila and stressed that the center would be supported by an additional 37 new employees.
Minister Fraser further said that Canada is set to welcome a high number of newcomers, stressing that such decisions give the country an advantage in attracting foreign talent to support the country’s key sectors as well as industries.
“Today’s announcement to open a new center supported by 37 new employees in the Philippines is another example of Canada’s work to boost immigration processing as we continue to promote greater diversity among those looking to visit, study, work, and live in Canada,” Minister Fraser stated.
Moreover, Minister Fraser pointed out that the opening of the new processing center will also facilitate travel between the two countries and will help highly skilled workers to reach Canada without having to undergo strict rules.
The decision of Canada to open a new application processing center was welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, Mélanie Joly, too. She said that such a decision is a strategic investment that will benefit citizens of the Philippines by providing more effective processing of visas and will support the planned increase in immigration levels in Canada.
“By expanding our presence overseas, we are committed to facilitating the immigration process for those who want to visit, study, work, or immigrate permanently to Canada,” Minister Joly added.
As part of the Indo-Pacific Strategy, Canada is investing around $74.6 million over five years as well as $15.7 million ongoing to boost the application processing capacity domestically and in the Indo-Pacific region.
Previously, VisaGuide.World reported that Canada might abolish the eligibility criteria to reduce the visa backlog. Canada is one of the countries that receives and processes the highest number of visa applications each month. In November alone, the country processed 60,000 visa applications
