Authorities in Canada are continuously attempting to bring to the country a large number of internationals in order to fill in the gaps noted in many industries.
Among the most famous visa programs in Canada is also the Temporary Worker Program (TFWP), which aims to help all those who plan to work in this country, to do so, for a short period, VisaGuide.World reports.
According to the figures provided by Statista, through the TFWP program, last year benefited a total of 82,150 people. The same noted that the scheme also brought to the country 76, 485 workers in 2020, while in 2019 there were 73,370.
The figures reveal that there was noted a year-on-year increase in the number of internationals brought to the country from this program.
Recently the Canadian government announced that the country will permit the spouses of temporary workers to qualify for a work permit in a two-year measure that has been introduced in order to facilitate the labour shortage crisis.
Such a decision has been welcomed by spouses of temporary workers, following the country’s decision to facilitate these rules.
According to the Immigration Canada report, in a phased approach that will begin in January, all temporary workers’ spouses and working-age children will be eligible to work in Canada.
A recent report by Economic Times India says that at present, spouses are only able for a work permit, in case the principal applicant is currently engaged in a high-skill occupation.
According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), from the new measure families of a total of 200,000 temporary workers will be able to work in Canada.
Authorities in Canada have stressed that the measures will be introduced in three main phases:
The first phase will begin with the high-wage stream of Canada’s Temporary Foreign Program while the two other phases consist of the low-wage stream of this program and then persons engaged in agricultural jobs.
“This temporary measure aims to improve the emotional well-being, physical health and financial stability of workers by keeping families together. As a result, it is expected that the worker will better integrate into their overall work environment and community,” the statement reads.
According to the Minister of Tourism as well as Associate Minister of Finance, Randy Boissonnault, the country is creating innovative solutions in order to deal with the current situation. Authorities in Canada are continuously attempting to find effective ways in order to manage the current labour shortages.
