Authorities in Canada are planning to facilitate the measures for Iranians in Canada in order to help them extend their temporary stay.
All those on temporary work, study or visitor visas in Canada will be subject to easier rules when planning to apply for an extension from inside the country starting from March 1, VisaGuide.World reports.
In addition, authorities in Canada have announced that they will process applications from citizens of Iran in Canada on a priority basis while stressing that they will also introduce a new open work permit pathway for Iran nationals in Canada which will permit foreign nationals to work in any occupation and for the employer of their choice.
Among others, the Government of Canada will also waive passport as well as permanent resident travel document fees for all citizens and permanent residents of Canada currently in Iran who wish to leave the country.
The recent changes that will soon start to take effect have been confirmed by Jonathan Wilkinson, the Natural Resources Minister of Canada on behalf of Immigration Minister Sean Fraser.
In a press release, the government of the country said that it is monitoring the current needs of the citizens of Iran and will adapt the response as needed.
“Many Iranians have chosen to come to Canada to visit or spend time with family, study, or work temporarily. It is understood that some of these temporary residents may feel uncomfortable returning to Iran at this time, and may wish to prolong their stay. The recent measures outlined in this public policy will make it easier for those who wish to extend their temporary stay in Canada without fees and move between temporary resident streams,” the statement reads.
Iran is among the main source countries regarding newcomers to Canada numbers’ according to the CIC News report, based on the data Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
The same noted that last year, a total of 11,105 citizens from Iran became new permanent residents in Canada.
In addition, nationals of Iran are the sixth top source country for study permit holders in Canada, with a total of 21,115 students from Iran in Canada registered as of December 31, last year.
At the same time, nearly 68 per cent of Canada’s Iranian population resides in Toronto and Vancouver.
In addition to introducing an open work permit for Iranian nationals in this country, Canada’s open work permit which allows internationals to work for Canadian employers for a specific period of time has been subject to new changes for Hongkongers as well.
Earlier this month, Canadian authorities announced that they decided to expand and extend the open visa permit program for residents from Hong Kong in order to bring to the country a larger number of Hongkongers. The decision was confirmed by the government of Canada.
Canadian authorities are continuously attempting to apply new changes in order to facilitate the entry rules for citizens of other territories planning to travel to Canada.
