The Australian authorities have announced that the country will reduce some health examination requirements for applicants under specific Temporary Visa categories.
The plans to streamline immigration procedures under specific Temporary Visa categories were announced by the government on October 18, 2022, VisaGuide.World reports.
The Corporate Immigration Partners explains that the Australian government’s plans include waiving the requirement for health requirements for Temporary Work Visas (including those issued for an extended stay), Temporary Skill Shortage Visas, and Student Visitor Visas.
In addition, it has been noted that the Department of Home Affairs will contact all the applicants in case a health examination is still required.
Through an official statement, the Australian authorities also said that these measures will remain in place until the start of 2023.
The Australian government has separated the work migration program into five categories. However, the most popular visas are the Global Talent Visa– subclass 858, Employer Nomination Scheme Visa– subclass 186, Permanent Skilled Regional Visa– subclass 191, Regional Sponsored Migration Visa– subclass 187, and Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa– subclass 494, among others.
The other two types of visa categories – the Temporary Skill Shortage Visas and Student Visitor Visas – that will benefit from the new changes are also separated.
Depending on the visa type, those wishing to apply for an Australian visa can do so through the online service of the Australian Department of Home Affairs, through the official ETA portal of the Australian Department of Home Affairs, or at an Embassy or Consulate.
Applicants do not need to submit original documents when applying for an Australian visa. Those applying online need to scan their document and attach them as electronic files, whereas those applying on paper should submit certified copies.
Regarding the processing time, the authorities note that it depends on the visa type. In general, tourist visa applications are processed within a few weeks to a maximum of four weeks. As for long-term visa applications, it can take several months to more than a year, depending on the visa.
The decision that became effective in July applies to Short-Term Subclass 482 Visa ($1,330.00), Subclass 186 Visa ($4,240.00), Medium-Term Subclass 482 Visa ($2,770.00), and Subclass 400 Visa ($325.00).
The first two visa types permit internationals to work in Australia in cases when employers ate unable to source an appropriately skilled worker in Australia.
