Authorities in Abu Dhabi have announced that the Golden Visa scheme will be valid for a period of ten years instead of five years.
The new changes have been confirmed by the Director of Operations at the Abu Dhabi Residents Office, Mark Dorzi, VisaGuide.World reports.
All those who hold this kind of visa are eligible to sponsor spouses as well as children and parents regardless of their age, taking also into account the new categories and sub-categories added, based on the suggestions from the relevant offices such as the Abu Dhabi Office for Residents, according to Dorzi.
In this regard, the Abu Dhabi Residents Office indicated that the Golden Visa scheme is now valid for ten years and offers new ways for foreigners interested in acquiring residency for all professionals as well as researchers in different fields such as science and also knowledge taking into account specialists, doctors as well as inventors.
Authorities in the United Arab Emirates previously introduced the Golden Visa scheme in order to bring to this territory a large number of internationals. Such a visa is issued for a period of five or ten years depending on the category.
Recently UAE officials announced that over 100,000 Golden Visas were issued by the country’s authorities, therefore marking an increase of 35 per cent compared to the figures of last year.
In this regard, local media said that the surge came following the new amendments applied to the long-term residency program and also the new visa rules that became effective in October 2022.
According to the figures provided by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners in Dubai, more than 79,000 golden visas were granted by authorities in UAE last year for all categories. Such figures were reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
At the same time, GDRFA figures also revealed that a total of 32,467 long-term residency visas were issued last year, including a total of 79,617, or more than 47,150 registered in 2021.
The figures provided by the same source also revealed that in November 2022 over 151,600 Golden Visas were granted to internationals in Dubai for a period between 2019 to 2022.
Authorities in The UAE introduced the Golden Visa scheme in 2019 in order to permit internationals to live, study and work without being required to have a national sponsor and also with 100 per cent ownership of their business on the UAE mainland.
