Several Consultancies Reportedly Scamming H-1B Applicants Without Real Job Offers

Fraud and abuse in the Person on Specialty Occupation Visa, known as an H-1B visa, have been detected by the United States Federal Agency, based on the latter’s proclaiming.

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has said that some companies committed fraud to artificially boost their possibility of winning the visa for their foreign workers, VisaGuide.World reports.

Regarding the situation, a user on the Reddit platform published a list of a total of 128 consultancies that take the money of the applicants to file multiple H-1B requests without a genuine job offer.

“I put up a list of fraud consultancies and their contact information. This list consists of 128 consultancies applying multiple applications or scamming applicants by getting their money. If you are a genuine applicant and did not get an H-1B visa this year, please don’tdon’t be hard on yourself,” the user pointed out.

The user said that applicants have little change due to these consultants.

Among the consulting firms that are involved in alleged H-1B visa scams, according to the Reddit user, are HEPTE Overseas, IMINDs, ALAMEDA Tech Solutions, Pinnacle Soft Solutions, Logging-In.com INC, Start Work Force, INTUITES, Loopbell, IBLE Soft, Abroad Learning, Indus Group.

The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant US visa that permits companies in the US who find it difficult to employ workers in speciality occupations that require technical and theoretical expertise. As a result, US tech companies hire a large number of employees from other countries, especially from India and China.

The annual H-1B visa allocations are capped at a total of 85,000. Of them, 20,000 are dedicated to workers holding advanced degrees from institutions in the United States, while the remaining 65,000 visas are approved on a lottery basis.

Previously, United States Congressman Shri Thander last month called on US Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to further increase the annual cap when it comes to the Person in Specialty Occupation visa.

In order to bring an increased number of international workers to the US, the Indian-American Congressman urged Mayrkas to expand the legal pathways for immigration further.

“We must expand legal pathways for immigration, including by raising the cap for H-1B visas,” Thanedar pointed out.

A previous report by the American think tank Cato Institute revealed that holders of H-1B visas are among the highest-paid workers in the United States.
