The Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Sajid Hussain Turi, has announced that one million Pakistanis will be sent abroad for employment this year, with authorities from Saudi Arabia being the first ones to visit the country and issue work permits for Pakistani nationals.
According to the Minister, similar agreements are under work with 50 other countries, including Greece, Romania and Germany, VisaGuide.World reports.
Turi also pointed out that officials from the Saudi Ministry of Labour will visit Pakistan and issue visas for Pakistanis who pass the technical training test.
Japan has also started issuing work permits for Pakistani nationals, while South Korea needs 10,000 skilled Pakistani workers and intends to recruit them soon.
“We are planning to hire skilled Pakistani workers in good numbers. We need skilled workers, as our population is shrinking with each passing day. We are to sign an MOU with the Pakistan government in a month’s time, enabling the Pakistan skilled workers to have an indefinite visa of Japan,” the Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan, Kuninori Matsuda, said.
In addition, Pakistanis will soon also be able to obtain work visas in Romania and Germany, and agreements are under work to provide professional and labour visas for Greece and Portugal.
However, the Minister pointed out that the Ministry of Interior has put a halt to the process for visa issuance to Malta as the country doesn’t have a consulate or embassy there. In the meanwhile, efforts are being made to resolve this issue, using the Pakistani embassy in Italy.
So far, the Pakistani government has restored 27,000 block passports of Pakistanis abroad and is working to address the issue with millions of Pakistani nationals that are unlawfully living in Europe.
According to VisaGuide.World, Pakistani passport holders can travel without a visa to nine countries; Cook Islands, Vanuatu, Dominica, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Micronesia, Niue and Montserrat. In order to travel there, Pakistani nationals must have a valid passport and purchase travel health insurance, depending on the destination country’s policies.
The Passport Index shows that the Pakistani passport is listed among the lowest, being listed 195th, with a passport score of 10.12. In addition, Pakistani passport holders are able to travel to 22 countries with a visa-on-arrival, while in 27 countries, people can travel to 27 countries with an e-visa. On the other hand, 168 countries have a visa regime in place for Pakistani nationals.
The same index reveals that the United Arab Emirates has the strongest passport in the middle east, which is listed as 26th – with an 86.92 passport score.
