Travelers from a total of 103 countries worldwide will now be eligible to enter Oman for up to 14 days without applying for visas at first after the county has confirmed that such requirements have been abolished.
The Royal Police (ROP) confirmed that tourists from the following territories are eligible to enter visa-free Oman:
The European Union countries, except those from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, as well as Sweden.
Other European countries: Norway, Monaco, Ukraine, United Kingdom
Non-European countries: Venezuela, Colombia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Thailand, South Africa, Russia, China, the United States of America, Turkey, South Korea, New Zealand, Iran, Australia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Canada, Malaysia, and Singapore.
The decision to abolish visas for travelers from over 100 countries was previously announced by the country’s authorities, VisaGuide.World reports.
In addition, tourists from India are eligible to hold a visa on arrival provided they keep an entry visa from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Schengen Zone countries, or Japan or have a resident permit from one of the GCC countries (The Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates) and work in a profession as specified by the government of Oman.
ROP said that travelers from the 103 countries are now eligible to extend their visa-free stay in this country for more than 14 days with a fee applicable for the extension.
Despite the decision to abolish visas for a large number of countries, Oman’s passport is not considered among the most powerful ones in the Passport Index of VisaGuide.World.
The index which ranks passports of 199 countries taking into account several factors, -including the number of countries where citizens are eligible to travel without visas- has placed Oman’s passport in the 108th position with a score of 34.25 percent. Holders of Oman’s passports are eligible to travel without visas to 37 countries.
Oman experienced notable financial loss as a result of the spread of the Coronavirus and its new variants, especially in its travel and tourism sector.
The figures provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) revealed that a total of 399,449 COVID-19 infection cases had been registered in this country since the beginning of the pandemic. At the same time, the virus caused the death of 4,628 persons.
Still, the government managed to welcome a large number of international tourists. The figures provided by Arabian Business revealed that the country saw a total of 348 percent increase in tourists last year, compared to the figures for 2021, during which year the COVID-related restrictions were still kept in place.
The same source said that the occupancy rate marked an increase last year, or a total of 31.3 percent, reaching 53.7 percent in comparison to 40.9 percent during the same period the previous year.
