China Unfolds New Visa Program for Professional Talent in Greater Bay Area

Authorities in China have announced that residents from nine cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area are eligible to apply for a new talent visa to Hong Kong as well as Macao’s special administrative areas.

While announcing the recent decision, the National Immigration Administration (NIA) has revealed that the new changes will become effective on February 20, VisaGuide.World reports.

It has also been emphasized that travelers under the new visa arrangement will be granted a stay of 30 days in either of the two SARs.

According to a report provided by Global China Daily,  high-end talents under the following  six categories engaged in the Greater Bay Area are allowed to fill out an application for such entry permits:

Those who have made significant contributions to the development of the territory, taking into account scientific research talents, health talents, education talents, legal talents, and other recognized talents.

According to the policy, a potential candidate can fill out an application for travel endorsements to the HKSAR as well as Macao SAR with a validity period from five years and three years to one year, depending on the category.

Authorities in China introduced the New Talent Visa back in 2018, in order to attract skilled professionals from other countries who wish to live and work in China. The new program was introduced to help the country’s economic growth and bring to the country a large number of talent from countries worldwide.

According to Chinese authorities, the new talent visa is eligible for all internationals who have outstanding skills and are engaged in specific fields such as technology, science, education, culture, sports, business, and other similar fields.

Those who benefit from this kind of visa are subject to many benefits, taking also into account simplified application procedures, as well as multiple entries and exits, as well as streamlined work and residence, permits applications.

All persons who plan to apply for such a visa are required to provide valid required documents, including passports, visa application forms as well as proof of their expertise and other qualifications.

Recently, China’s government announced that they resumed issuing visas for travelers from Japan.

Such a decision confirmed by the Chinese Embassy’s website ended the nearly three-week suspension of visas following the protest of Tokyo’s tougher Coronavirus requirements applied for Chinese tourists.
