Singapore Drops All COVID Entry Measures

The Singapore authorities have announced all travelers regardless of their country of origin, will now be able to enter Singapore without having to undergo any COVID entry rules as they have been officially dropped.

Singapore dropped its COVID entry restrictions on February 13, 2023, and the move means that unvaccinated travellers will no longer be required to undergo a pre-departure Coronavirus test or show proof of recovery upon their arrival, VisaGuide.World reports.

“There are no longer any COVID-19 measures for travellers arriving in Singapore from Feb 13, 2023, regardless of vaccination status or traveller profile,” the statement of the Singapore Government reads.

The Ministry of Health of Singapore has explained that apart from not being required to show proof of vaccination or undergo pre-departure testing, travelers reaching Singapore will also no longer be required to purchase travel health insurance covering COVID medical treatment while in the country.

In addition, the Ministry stressed that the face mask requirement in public transport has also been dropped. All travelers and citizens of Singapore using public transport no longer have to drop a face mask.

The decision to drop the entry rules and the mask requirement on public transport was taken after evaluating the current Coronavirus situation in the country and concluding that strict measures are not needed anymore.

Data provided by the World Health Organization show that Singapore has recorded 2,826 new COVID infection cases in the last seven days. As for the vaccination rates, data shows that by the end of 2023, around 85 percent of the entire population had received primary vaccination.

Similar to Singapore, several other countries around the world have also already lifted all of their COVID-19 entry rules.

As soon as the situation started to improve and the vaccination rates increased, the majority of countries decided to permit restriction-free entry for all travelers to help revive the travel and tourism sector.

India is the most recent country that announced changes to its COVID entry rules. The Indian authorities just recently announced that travelers from or visa China, South Korea, Singapore, Japan, and Hong Kong will now be able to enter the country without taking a pre-departure Coronavirus test.

The decision to not apply such a requirement anymore for arrivals from the countries mentioned above and the administrative region of Hong Kong was taken in view of the declining trajectory of COVID infection cases globally.

As for travellers from other countries reaching India, the authorities explained once again that they are also permitted restriction-free entry.
