Morocco to Issue E-Visas for Nationals of India, Guatemala, Azerbaijan & Jordan From January

Morocco will issue E-visas for nationals from India, Guatemala, Azerbaijan and Jordan, starting from January 10, 2023.

Such an announcement has been confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Morocco, VisaGuide.World reports.

“This decision comes within the framework of the efforts made by the Kingdom, at the national and international levels, aimed at the digitalization of public administration services, in particular those related to consular action at the level of diplomatic missions and consulates of the Kingdom,” the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reads.

The recent changes will further contribute to the easing of the travel process for citizens of countries mentioned above, while it is part of efforts that the country has taken in order to further digitalize the administration service, in national and internal levels.

The E-visa system comes as part of Morocco’s government’s effort to boost tourism industry, welcoming a larger number of internationals, and also promote the North African state as a favourite destination for tourism and business.

In addition, the changes also aim to facilitate the travel process for the tourists as well as passengers who travel for business purposes.

Back in July this year, authorities in Morocco introduced the launch of Access Maroc, which is an online platform designed in order to ease the process of holding an e-visa, which is valid for  a period of 180 days after being issued.

Officials in Morocco also announced that such a service became available for travellers from 49 countries, and now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to add four new countries to this list.

It has been clarified that the e-visa consists only of international citizens from countries that previously were required to have a non-electronic visa in order to enter Morocco.

Morocco’s tourism industry has also been highly hit by the restrictions introduced previously in order to contain the spread of the COVID-19 and its new variants, while authorities in this country limited the entry of internationals to protect citizens’ lives.

It has been reported that the Department of Studies and Financial Forecasts previously reported that  Morocco’s tourism revenues reached a total of $6.77 billion by the end of October, marking a total of 148.9 per cent increase in comparison to the figures of the same period last year.

Following the notable improvement of the epidemiological situation, the situation in the tourism sector in Morocco has also started to ameliorate.
